Loved your post about owning a pond. My husband and son (who was then 11) built a pond on our farm. It was wonderful watching the progress from start to finish. I made a memory book for them – of photographs and relevant quotes. You can see it here

William, When it comes to water lilies, the best product to use would be Kraken & Cide-Kick. Your going to want to use 24 oz Kraken with 1.5 Oz Cide-Kick with 3 quarts of water. Mix this into a tank sprayer and spray where the water lilies are. If the water lilies are below the surface of the water, just spray the mixture on the water's surface where they are located. The mixture will sink down to the plants. This mixture will treat approximately 2,500 sq. ft. of water lilies. The only water use restriction on Kraken is irrigation. It has a 120-day irrigation restriction, so no using your pond water to spray your grass, garden or other plants. Hopefully this helps, let me know if you need anything else.

I do have a large pond and I have a serious problem with all of the leaves that blow into this pond and cover the bottom. I also have a problem with water lilies which were planted by the previous owner and are threatening to take over most of this pond. please advise how I might best relieve these problems. I have purchased a rake and scythe cutter from you and beginning to take care of some of the shallower areas of the pond by continuing to cut the lilies off close to the roots. Will they eventually die or will they keep spreading from the cutoffs?
